Last week I arrived home with this sitting in the shade on our porch . . .

I know you may be asking, "What's in the box, McCaulie?" or maybe you're not cause you read the title and you're quick witted . . . either way here's a little peak . . .

That's right - BUTTONS!!! Lots and lots of buttons! 10 pounds of buttons to be exact.

Well I do have something up my sleeve and I was given the thumbs up from my hubby so stay tuned to find out!!

Games, Cupcakes and Books...Oh My!

This past Thursday some of my friends and I made a trip down to Palo Alto to see two of our favorite authors. It was our first trip to a book signing and we had a blast!

We all took off from work around noon and made a pit-stop at Dave & Buster's in San Jose. I had previously been to Dave & Buster's once for my friend Jamie's 21st birthday. Though my memory is a little faded reminiscing about that trip because this beautiful mom-to-be is now in her later 20's and we traveled to DB's after several pre-drinks while watching Paulie Shore, I still told the girls it would be a worthwhile stopping point. I was right!! And funny enough, once there I started remembering more about Jamie's 21st birthday night. :)

Once we arrived in Palo Alto we found the bookstore and, more importantly, we found a cupcake store to loud our tummies with the sweet cupcakey goodness!! Yummy!!!

Twilight Style

For those of you who know (and love) Stephenie Meyer's Twilight books, you may be wondering how the vintagey chic wedding between the cute and clumsy Bella Swan and her oh-so-sexy vampire Edward Cullen will be translated onto screen. Am I right? I especially want to know how they will create Bella's one-of-a-kind dress.

Bella's dress is described as an early 1900s design (which complements her antique engagement ring) with friend and Maid of Honor Alice Cullen's modern tweaks to the train and veil. "You look like you just stepped out of an Austen movie," Bella's mother says to the bride-to-be when she spies her in the gown in the final book, Breaking Dawn. "It's gorgeous! So graceful, so elegant."

Well, the fabulous mag In Style reached out to some of the best designers to see how they envision Bella's gown and here's what they came up with...

Zac Posen
This pink gown features a turn-of-the-century corset, bustle, full skirt, high-neck and dramatic detailed sleeves. Posen keeps to the vintage theme by finishing with lace-up boots.

Prabal Gurung
Definitely the most modern interpretation of the bunch. The dress has a dramatic train, low-cut back and features a unique neckline with red embellishments for a touch of color.

Monique Lhuillier
A mermaid-style dress with lace detailing.

The reworked take on a gown from the 1920s features a silk sash and high neck with cap sleeves.

Max Azria
The main focus for this gown was the vintage lace detail. The dress is complete with lace peaked shoulders, full sleeves and a high neck.


Lela Rose
The rear view of this off-white, handcrafted dress is stunning!!
The simple body gathers at back into a sweet lace bustle.


Erin Fetherston
This interpretation has a high-neck, puff sleeves and lace bustier and, of course, her signature ethereal touch on the two-tiered body with a tulle and lace underlayer.

Christian Siriano
The youngest winner of Project Runway (and my favorite winner thus far) created this three-tiered dress with a lace bustier and high ruffle neckline with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a full body.

Brian Reyes
The fabric as a slightly tarnished bone color and the silhouette is a long skirt with a ruffled blouse and lace diamond inserts. The inspiration is a youthful spin on early 20th century Edwardian era elegance.

Badgley Mischka
A strong silhouette with vintage details like full-length lace sleeves and bodice, and a high-buttoned neck.

I think my favorite is the Fetherston gown, it screams that jane-austen-vintage-chic look to me. What's your favorite?

Why didn't I think of that?

How many times of you come across a perfectly fabulous product and thought "Why didn't I think of that?" Well CitiSoles gave me that OMG moment!!

Happy 1st Year Teresa's!!

Our dearest friends Ky and Adriana were married one year ago yesterday!! It was so fun to be able to plan our wedding together and for Adriana and I to do all our DIY wedding stuff together while the boys played Wii (just kidding they helped too - a little). Their wedding was the perfect storybook affair and Adriana was truly a glowing princess. It was such a fun day and we are so thankful to be apart of it.

This weekend the four of us will be heading up to my parents cabin to celebrate their big day with fishing, reading, laughing, reminiscing and lots of fun! I can't believe their wedding was a year ago! Time sure does fly.

This season of So You Think You Can Dance was OK, just OK. Normally Geoff and I have favorites from Vegas that we root for but this season no one really stood out until the middle and for me that was Jeanine. Mia Michaels Addiction piece with Kayla and Kupono was my all time favorite dance this season but a very close second was Jeanine and Jason's contemporary piece choreographed by Travis Wall. Both were absolutely stunning and gave me chills.

A Little Humor for You . . .

Recently, in a large French city, a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym. It said: THIS SUMMER DO YOU WANT TO BE A MERMAID OR A WHALE? A middle aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.


To Whom It May Concern:
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans). They have an active sex life; they get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia. Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CD's. They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.


Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Therefore they don't have kids either. Not to mention who wants to get close to a girl who's skin is all scaly and smells like a fish store?


The choice is perfectly clear to me... I want to be a whale.


P.S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my grandkids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a latte with my friends.

The Still Truckin' Tour!

Last month Geoff turned the big 3-0. To celebrate we asked our closest friends and family to join us at Brew It Up to brew our own beer. I think we all had a blast and it was the perfect was for Geoff to ring in his 30's!

Geoff and I always thought that if we ever owned a Brewery we would name it - Grateful Dog - in homage to his favorite band and our favorite boys (our dogs). You can't read it but the centerpeices I created said "Grateful Dog Brewing" in tie dyed font and had a pic of our pups. These will also be the labels for the bottle.
