Spreading the Word

So every new entrepreneur needs a business card, am I right? Well when I was thinking about creating a business card, I was having a hard time figuring out how to make a business card, well, less businessy and more artsy. After all, I want to get my quirky, unique and personal design style across on a 2 x 3.5 little card and that's not a very big canvas. Then I thought about a mullet - yep that horrific hairstyle from the 80's - and that ever-so-popular phrase "It's business in the front and a party in the back!" and that is how my business card design came about. Yep, it's weird, I know but it worked!!

So without further ado . . . Here's my "party in the back" design:

McCaulie Kane Designs is moving on up!!

It's official ... I just completed my first initial design and got the thumbs up from a real honest-to-goodness customer (no relation to me!!). I created a shabby chic tea party bridal shower invitation and she wants at whopping 46!! Yahoo! Mama's gonna get some new shoes! :)

Weekend Love

This past weekend was pretty darn good . . . it would have been perfect but there was a dark cloud that I will not mention. It started off with me getting the house prepared for one of my favorite friends visit and this included arranging our new kitchen table centerpiece . . .

Then on Friday, while the boys were at the Kings game, Melissa and I dined at Crush 29 (yummy!!) and finally saw The Lovely Bones. Since we both loved the books the movie was a perfect fit for us.

On Saturday Lisa (my San Fran Favorite) arrived and we ate our fill of Pad Thai and saw Rent -- me for the first time and her for the billionth (it's her favorite musical) and let me tell you IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! Like Lis, I will now see it every chance I get!!

The weekend ended on a wonderful note of family, friends and football as Geoff and I headed to my parents to watch Super Bowl XLIV. We played commercial bingo (I won twice) and the score grid game (don't know the name) and ate tons of yummy food.

It was a nice weekend, very nice indeed!

February Thrift Finds

Each month Adriana (the bestie) and I travel throughout the Sacramento area in search of cool thrift stores and hidden treasures. The following are my finds for this month:

Pretty St. Patty's Day

Harry Potter #5 for my collection and a classic Black Beauty and Swiss Family Robinson - $2.oo for each

Homer for my love - he says 15 different Homeresqe sayings

1973 Sew Magic only $1.50 and it has everything!! I'm not sure what I will do with it but I thought it was too cute to pass up.

Blue colored glass jars for my new table arrangement (see next post). The large one was only 50 cents and the small one was 25 cents!

We're still going to hit up a couple more shops this weekend but so far I'm very satisfied with my thrift finds for this month!

Dinner, Murders, Mysteries . . . OH MY!

To celebrate my brother's 27th birthday we all dressed up and went to the Delta King to wine, dine and solve a murder mystery!! It was a blast and with some of us living in a different city and others with a crazy work schedule it's one of the rare occasions that all of us can get together. Now that I think about it - I believe the last time all of us were together was our wedding.
