What a Difference Trees Make

We bought our house a year ago next month - yahoo! When we moved in we focused on the inside and then the wedding took up all of our time so our front yard was left totally neglected. And if I am being completely honest, it looks CRAP-PY!!

We decided that since we have been in the house for a year it was high time to make it look just as wonderful as the inside so for our first year celebration we are going to prettify our front yard. We are very lucky to live in Sacramento County where they have a shade tree program to help cut energy costs. We met with a representative today and we are getting six trees for FREE!! Yep, completely and totally FREE!!! Yeah!!! Now we won;t have to spend $1000 plus on trees and we can focus on the plants and flowers :)

I downloaded a landscaping program and here's a pretty close representation of what our yard will look like (when the trees have grown a little) . . .

Isn't it lovely??? You just gotta love trees!!

It's Britney Bitch!

Last Saturday Geoff and I were at his parents celebrating Easter when his brother and is sister-in-law said they were leaving early to head to the Britney Spears concert. Though I hate to admit it - Geoff and I are fans of Britney (at least some songs) and we thought she would be fun to see. We tried to get tickets online but it said the only tickets availible were $150 plus . . . um, no way!! Well after talking for a bit and getting more and more jealous by the minute we decided to be spontanous and head to Arco and try to scalp tickets.

Parking at arco arena . . . $12

Buying scalped tickets to a sold out show from a man on a corner. . . $120

Deciding to take a last minute ranmdom adventure, get seats next to Misty and Aaron, and shaking our booties to Britney Spears . . . PRICELESS!!!

The Countdown Ends

Well today is the day I have been waiting for . . . today City of Glass is released! It's a bittersweet day because I am DYING to read the book but once I do - it's over.

City of Glass is the last book in the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare. And let me tell you if you have not read these books - stop what you are doing and go buy them!! They are AMAZING!! The series is a trilogy with City of Bones and City of Ashes proceeding City of Glass. This truly is my favorite series by far!!

To celebrate this wonderful occasion two girls who have the best book blogs around -- The Ravenous Reader and Reverie Media -- are throwing a week long celebration and a contest where you can win a signed copy of Glass or Ashes or much more fun stuff . Thanks girls!!

Thank you, Dad!!

My dad is amazing! Seriously I'm not just saying this because he's my dad - it's entirely true. And here are just a few of the reasons why -- he's super handy, very creative and he has helped us with our house in more ways than I can count! He would so anything for his children and he goes above and beyond in everything he does. Geoff and I are so grateful for his expertise and willingness to help us on the drop of a dime. We really are so thankful to have him helping us out.

His most recent work to our home has completely, totally, utterly, magnificently, beautifully (and all the other adjectives ending with ly) transformed our family room. You see our home is a tri-level house which means that all the bedrooms are on the top floor -- our kitchen, dining room and living room are on the middle floor -- and our family room is on the bottom floor. When we bought our home in may the bottom floor had a huge closet in the most ackward place with very ugly sliding doors. When we were arranging our furniture we realized that the perfect place for our television was right where the ugly closet was so we took off the doors and stuck our TV inside. At that time my dad said that when we had the funds and the time he would build us an entertainment center. Well, we finally had the funds :)

Bowling Night

Last weekend Geoff and I went out with Ky and Adriana, now this isn't something unusual becuase we normally go out with them every weekend. However this time we headed to Strikes in Rocklin for a night of beer and bowling!! Oh yeah and it was a blast!!

We decided to grab some grub and the adjoining restaurant while we were waiting for our names to be called. Below is the lovely Adriana with her winning fry - that potato must have been huge!!
